A 21 year old man, Joshua Geoffrey was on a Monday sentenced to jail by Dei-Dei Magistrate Court, for stealing a pistol,cell phone and a tear gas canister from Byazhin police station while in detention for stealing.
The prosecutor told the court that Geoffrey was in detention inside a cell in Byzahin with respect to phone theft. He said a police officer brought out the convict to clean the cell when he smartly stole a pistol,cell phone and a tear gas canister and fled.
According to Daily Trust,Geoffrey pleaded for leniency promising not to commit crimes anymore if pardoned.He said he had no relative in Abuja.
