Nuhu J. EGYA, Esq., is an alumnus of Nasarawa State University, Keffi and the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He holds an LL.M from the University of Jos and is currently pursuing his PhD in Law from the same institution.
His illustrious legal journey spans courtroom litigation, legal education, human rights activism, and bar leadership. He is the Principal Partner at Egya & Egya Associates, and a Lecturer in Humanities and Social Sciences at the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa. Notably,
Barr. Egya currently serves as the National Chairman of the NBA Citizens Liberties Committee, where he has led strategic interventions that have resulted in the release of unlawfully detained persons across Nigeria, including eight protesters in Maiduguri, six minors held for over 100 days, and four others in relation to the _#EndBadGovernance_ protests.
Under his leadership, the Committee has partnered with the Nigeria Correctional Service, NGOs, and the judiciary to improve inmate conditions and promote access to justice, including groundbreaking work at Kuje Correctional Centre, where many indigent inmates were freed through coordinated efforts.. His engagement with law enforcement also extends to fostering mutual respect and improved relations between the NBA and the Nigeria Police Force, including recent high-level consultations with the FCT Commissioner of Police._Beyond legal activism, Mr Egya is a respected bar leader, having served as the Chairman of the NBA Keffi Branch *(2022–2024)* _and is currently the National President of the Nasarawa State University Alumni Association.
He has published academic works on constitutional safeguards, the right to life, and contempt of court, demonstrating a profound commitment to scholarship.
