Despite the celebration over the investiture of two Call Mates of Nigerian Law School 2003, NLS Class 2003, is deeply saddened and celebrated in muted ecstasy.
The dampened spirit is because our colleague, brother and friend, Okechukwu Anthony Enumah AKA Abunde, lies in Nnewi mortuary and would be buried today, Tuesday November 29th in his father’s compound at Mkpoka Okpuno Nnewichi, Nnewi Anambra State.
Abunde, Bundus, attended NLC Abuja Campus. At the time of his death, he was 45 years old, survived by a father, who also is a lawyer, a wife and a young daughter.
Abunde, Bundus my man, the life of every party, would’ve been all over the place celebrating his classmates who had been elevated into the Inner Bar but the cold hands of death held him down in the early days of November, 2022.
Bundus my man, we failed you again. We chose festivities over mourning you but in my heart, I wept as non observed any minute silence in your loving memory.
Williams Shakespeare was write, “When beggars die, there are no comets seen; the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.”
And the Bible book of Ecclesiastes 7:2 “It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.”
Bundus my man, you can testify that I didn’t join them to celebrate while you were in the mortuary!
Rest in peace, my brother and friend, I too failed you, I couldn’t come for your burial; forgive me.
