African Women Lawyers Association, Nigeria (AWLA) is an International Association open to every trained female lawyer of African descent all over the World.
The vision is to build a balanced society by promoting, preserving and protecting the rights and interests of Women and Children in Africa.
We work hard work to enhance the legal status of Women and Children via activities such as: dissemination of information and knowledge via mass media, organizing symposia, seminars, workshops on matters affecting the Women and Children. Our outreaches cover prisons, hospitals,. people living with disabilities, old people’s homes etc.
We also organize empowerment programs to the indigent when we have been empowered ourselves.

In AWLA, we deploy our voice and collective influence to advance opportunities for Women in all fields of public life, be it industry, business, politics etc.
We encourage and support Women to pursue diverse professions to increase their access to opportunities even as we encourage and project quality, tested, capable and proven Women that possess enviable values which reflects our objectives to build a wholesome society.
AWLA also encourages Women to aspire and contest for political offices during elections and to also make themselves available for political appointments as they are catalysts helping to bring the much desired change and visibility as well as the competence required to showcase the proven abilities of competent Women which they bring to every establishment they occupy.

AWLA occasionally embark on rallies and protests to create awareness and bring attention to issues that are urgent and important.
These are but a summary of what AWLA Nigeria does.
And we are looking forward to the success of AWLA Enugu’s inaugural symposium of Friday, the 7th of October, 2022.

Mukosolu Mcjossy is the Enugu State Coordinator of African Women Lawyers Association, Nigeria (AWLA)
