Contrary to the unfortunate gossip making rounds that YC Maikyau SAN is a Muslim and that Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had endorsed one of the candidates in the forthcoming NBA Presidential Election, CAN has in a letter dated 7th July 2022, distanced itself from the gossip.
According to the letter, “ we write to correct the impression that the Christian Associntion of Nigeria (CAN) has endorsed any sole candidate for the presidency of NBA considering the fact that there may be some other contestants in the race. CAN is not and will never be a partisan Body. We therefore, write to disabuse the minds of all concerned that this Association is not in support of one particular candidate in the race over any other candidates.”
Once again, we pray for the best to emerge as the lender of this noble Association (NBA).”
For the avoidance of doubt, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN is a practicing Christian leader and a member of Summit Bible Church. He is a graduate of Rhema Bible Training Centre, Nigeria, where he was awarded a Diploma in Ministerial Training, with emphasis on Societal Leadership.
We had insisted that it is only the unprepared that throws religion into politics to divide the people.
All the 3 presidential candidates are Christians although with different degree of adherence to the practice of the sacraments of the faith.
