The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), today at their office in Bwari, issued certificate of return to all the victors in the just concluded Bwari Area Council election held on Saturday 12 February, 2022.
It was a carnival for the candidates now councilors-elect, as their teeming supporters, rolled out drums to celebrate with them.
Musa, a resident of Bwari we spoke to, said that these Councilors should not over rejoice as there are herculean tasks awaiting them after May when they would’ve taken oath of office.
He appealed to them, not to be like the outgoing ones, who were not active and their presence were not felt in the area council. He said there are developmental issues facing Bwari and quality legislative activities are needed to pass the right Bye laws that will aid the development of Bwari area council. He lamented the under-development of Bwari area council when compared to AMAC, despite the revenue generated from Bwari to develop Abuja.
Shehu another bystander watching the certificate presentation, was not impressed as he alleged that these victors, were not the true representatives of the people but those who were able to buy enough votes to edge out the peoples choices.
He lamented the poor performance of the incumbent chairman who regrettably, is returning to the office. He appealed to residents of Bwari area council and Civil Society Organizations in Bwari, to come together and make sure that the returning chairman performs better than he did in his previous tenure.
