According Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency, Comrade Clara M. Pulido Escandell, Cubans in Nigeria, are organizing a humble traditional remembrance for Camilo Cienfuegos, one of the historical leaders of the Cuban Revolution, on October 28th, at 5:00 p.m. in areas of Jabi Lake Park, with the participation of a small group of Cubans and friends of Cuba.
Comandante Camilo Cienfuegos was a Cuban revolutionary and one of the most paradigmatic personalities and popular heroes of the Cuban Revolution alongside with Fidel Castro and Ernesto “Che” Guevara.
He died on 28 October 1959, in an aircraft accident when the small plane in which he traveled disappeared under the sea. Since then, there is a tradition among Cuban people to pay tribute to him every October 28 by throwing flowers into the sea, rivers and lakes. That will be the aim of our activity.
Find below the invitation and a reference of the public area in Jabi Lake Park, the same place where the Embassy conducted the activity last year.
We will do it in the same way that we organized this commemoration in Cuba every 28th of October, it means that we shall start promptly and will not take more than 30 minutes.
