Lion Bar Commends Edo State Commissioner of Police

The Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch,  (Lion Bar) Human Rights Committee and Police Duty Solicitors Scheme, has expressed satisfaction with the manner the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro  (FDC),  for Sanitising the Process of Complaint at the Edo State Police Headquarters.

This is contained in a Statement issued in Benin City on Monday, 1st of August ,  2022, by Mrs Paula Agbale Chairman , NBA Benin Human Rights Committee, with the consent of  Amaechi Nwaozor Esq., Team Lead , the NBA Benin Police Duty Solicitors Scheme (PDSS)

The NBA Benin Branch runs a very robust engagement with the Edo State Police Command , which includes the constitution of the NBA Benin Bar Police Monitoring Committee led by Douglas Ogbankwa Esq. and the NBA  Benin Edo State Police Joint WhatssAp situation room , made up of officials of the Benin  Bar and the Police Management Team in Edo State , the only one of its kind in Nigeria .We wish every one a Happy New Month  .”

According to the statement, “We find it heartwarming and commendable that the Commissioner of Police Edo State-CP Abutu Yaro ( FDC)  will allow only Complainants or their Counsel initiate complaints before the Commissioner of Police Edo State. We stand with the Commissioner of Police in this regard even as we attest to the Cooperation the CP , his Officers and men have extended to us in our activities. We also commend the CP’s Zero Tolerance to impunity and Human Rights Abuses .
