In a show of courage, standing out and conviction, putting his vote where his mouth is and not hiding behind a finger, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, past NBA General Secretary, past Chairman NBA Abuja, has endorsed Y.C. Maikyau, SAN as the President of NBA 2022-2023.
In a statement contained in e-flyer being circulated, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN said,
“where As the election of the Nigerian Bar Association, draws near, I will, with full conviction and no hesitation, recommend and canvass support for Yakubu Chonoko (YC) Maikyau, to be the 31st President of the NBA.
My decision to support him is borne out of my conviction that NBA deserves to be led by a lawyer who will, in title alone, be called President, but in nature, conviction, vision, practice and antecedents, remain a reliable brother and friend to his professional colleagues regardless of status, age, calling or origin. He is such a lawyer. I strongly believe that electing him as President will sustain the improvement in the standing of the Nigerian Bar Association.
He will no doubt proactively address issues affecting lawyers, sustain improved welfare packages for lawyers, ensure good working environment of lawyers as well as ensure lawyers especially the young, aged and vulnerable lawyers continue to benefit from their membership of the Association.”
