Kubwa Holy Grounds; The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints popularly known as Mormon, is located on Okitipupa Crescent, phase 4, Kubwa. It is close to Mohammed Shop.

Church service is solemn and the energy creepy. A member talks to the congregants on a topic. The music is stiff with no accompanying danceable instruments but strictly hymns. The auditorium is styled like those high school halls in USA. There are no articles of faith at display on the alter to distract you from concentrating on the teachings.

After the reading of the Bible and The Book of Mormon, the congregation is educated with video study material from one of their churches in USA. We were thought how to grow and track our spiritual growth as well as how to minister to one another. The Church of Mormon, take the welfare of their members seriously and are actively involved in evangelism. Their young evangelists are those young men you see wearing White shirt and black trouser with mini native doctor kind of bag.

Church of Mormon, is a Christian denomination founded by Joseph Smith. He claimed an angel named Moroni appeared to him and led him to discover golden plates that had instructions about the lost tribe of Israel in the Americas.

Church of Mormon with it headquarters at Salt Lake City Utah, is among the top 5 richest churches in the world.

Church of Marmon in Nigeria according to 2019 report, has “192,144 members in 722 congregations making it the largest body of LDS Church members in Africa.”

Apart from the Bible, Mormons embrace three other text as sacred; four different texts: The Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and The Pearl of Great Price.

Unlike other Christian denominations, Marmons do not believe in trinity (God existing in three persons) rather they believe that God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, are three separate entities and ranked, with God the Father being on top of the food chain.

There are two different priesthood order in Marmon; 1. Aaronic priesthood for children and 2. Melchizedek priesthood, for adults.

They are conscious of their health and as a rule, do not take alcohol, tea or coffee.

They also have practical approach to fast. They fast once a month, usually the first Sunday of the month, is set aside for fasting and it often lasts for two days. While fasting, you are encouraged not only to abstain from food but to also contribute the money you would have used for your meal, to the church.

The church is neat, the compound is way laid out with a basket ball court-hardly in use but a symbol of USA colonization.
