Students of Kubwa eager to register for this year’s UME/DE, are crying out for help.
Most of them claim that they registered for NIN at post office Kubwa since last year, NIN given to them but on following the verification code USSD broadcasted by NIMC, there is no record of their data found. They are apprehensive that they may miss out of this year’s admission as JAMB had warned that students without NIN, will not be allowed to register or write this year’s UME.
If you recall, last year, the minister of communications, Prof. Pantami threatened to disconnect any mobile phone user, whose phone number is not linked to his NIN. Nigerians despite the COVID-19 surge, besieged government approved centers to be enrolled. Since then, the minister has been rolling up the deadline for more than 3 times.
An informed source in the ministry of communications, said that the NIN verification platform of the ministry and NIMC, is down and nonfunctional.
But NIMC Head, Corporate Communications, Kayode Adegoke, while admitting that the verification portal was down last week, said it has been restored and ask Nigerians to make use of any of the two verification platforms – Tokenization and NVS – which are both effective for verification and authentication of the National Identification Number.
