Dele Farotimi’s vituperation on Arise on the President Tinubu Certificate Issue , is one unbecoming of a Legal Practitioner.
I think it is time NBA provides for compulsory courses for people called to Bar to be able to keep up with ethics of the Profession.
If you want to be a full time social media warrior ,where you will insult Judges on national TV and make blanket comments about the judiciary that is not based on facts or evidence , but based on your personal opinion , then you have to drop your call to bar certificate , because the call to bar in a call to be minister in the temple of justice .
Once you are a minister in the Temple of Justice ,there are minimal standards expected of you .
So a Lawyer has a duty to his clients , a duty to his colleagues and a duty to the Court.
The duty to the Court includes the duty to address the court with integrity, respect and professionalism.
A Lawyer also have a duty to observe the Rule Of Law .This advice is also for all other Lawyers who go on television to denigrate our Judges and Justices .
Election is only for 4 years, but our Judiciary is always with us .
Can Dele Farotimi defend his comments on Arise TV ,which were uncouth , filled with innuendos that are unbecoming of Lawyers at the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee ?
It is not enough for Dele to say he stopped practising law at age 50, his name is still on the roll of Legal Practitioners called to Bar in Nigeria.
So , if he does not stop all these his social media law , where he insults judges and Justices , I will lead the Vanguard to strike his name off the roll .
He has no right to bully the Judiciary on TV and online .
