In his opening address, Chief Judge of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, said that, the magistrate court is an integral and critical aspect of justice institution in Nigeria. He further adumbrated, “Magistrate walks a tight rope as he has to balance the obligation to maintain best global practices in his day to day activities with obvious challenges associated with his job. This is undoubtedly a tall task, nevertheless, there is no excuse for failure,”
Magistrates In FCT Begin A Two Day Workshop
Court room activities could not go on in FCT Magistrate courts on Monday, due to the absence of magistrates. Inquires by our team revealed that Magistrates in FCT, are undergoing training at a workshop and will not sit until Thursday 17 February, 2022.
The theme of this workshop organized by Magistrates Association of Nigeria is, “Attaining global best practices in the FCT Magistracy: Challenges and solutions”
The chairman of Magistrates Association of Nigeria FCT, Senior Magistrate Musa Abdulrazaq Emery, on his part said, the workshop was geared towards equipping the magistrates with the necessary tools with which to function efficiently in all ramifications. He said that his members, would deliver their best when their welfare, is taken care of. He added that, “it goes without saying that our job is a high calling whence justice must be dispensed with the utmost regards to what is just, fair and legal.”
