Socio-Economic Research and Development Centre, (SERDEC), a Civil Society Organization supported by MacArthur Foundation, has called on the federal government, agencies and international bodies to put an end to the marginalization and economic injustice being carried out against Original Indigenes of Abuja.
SERDEC, made the call at the launch of the project, “Promoting the rights of the Original Inhabitants in the Federal Capital Territory,” in Abuja.
The project cycle which will end in 2023, is aimed at providing employment for youths and women in the six Area Councils in Abuja.
Mr Tijani Abdulkareem, Executive Director of SERDEC, speaking to newsmen, decried the “statelessness” of the FCT saying as a result, “the original inhabitant communities find themselves building feelings of alienation, frustration and bitterness arising from inequitable access to state opportunities.”
