The Bwari Area Council Election, coming up on Saturday, 12th February, 2022, has 11 Chairmanship candidates. Of this 11, two are women.
Ogah Patricia Odoh of the YPP, is a HND holder, aged 33 years. She is the youngest in the race. Her running mate, is Mr. Buhari Mahdi Ya’u. Mr. Ya’u is also 33 years and holds an NCE degree. Their campaign is robust, full of energy.
Ibokun Patience Bunmi, is the second woman in the race. At age 36, with HND, she is the flag bearer of NNPP and has Augustin Okafor, 52 years, as her running mate.
According to Barr. Juliet Isi Ikhayere, ADC Councilorship Candidate for Kubwa Ward, it is tough for women in politics. She said that women in politics is like swimming in shark infested water with blood oozing out from a wound on your body.
She said she had given her best, reached the electorates and pray that they choose the best to serve Kubwa Ward.
She also called on women to participate in politics, whether they win or lose, it is a training process that has rewards much more than wining.
