His demise received with rude shock has left the members of the Gwagwalada Branch in devastating and pensive mood.
Who was Hamisu Umar?
Mr. Hamisu was a young man who served meritoriously as the YLF Chairman of the NBA Gwagwalada branch between 2022 to 2024 June. In 2024 when his illness had been visibly noticed, Hamisu defiled all odds to lead the Young Lawyers Forum of the branch to organize its first ever proud, world standard YLF Summit hosted at Gwagwalada Abuja. The programmes pulled who is who in legal profession including Senior Advocates and revered Professors of law. He was a promising leader and bar man to the core, a humble man whose humility was second to none among his colleagues.
Among served on several other capacities which impacts will outlive him, he was a one time Secretary of the Continuing Legal Education Committee and members of Several Committees.
Mr Hamisu left behind his mother, wife and a child.
At the emergence of the current executive members, Mr Hamisu became ill and diagnosed with cancer related issues. The branch could not leave him alone but organized a fundraising support which raised over a million naira sometimes in July 2024. Despite re-assurances by Hamisu that he was improving, his health nosedived recently and later gave up the ghost in accordance with his fate.
Our branch will sorely miss a young but enigmatic bar man who was also a devout Muslim until his death. We will continue to pray that Allah should repose his soul in aljannah fridaws and grant the family left behind and the entire members of the Gwagwalada branch the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Amen.
