Tochukwu Ohazuruike, Esq of Liberty Attorneys that petitioned NBA President, YC Maikyau OON, SAN to EFCC, in an exclusive telephone interview with Felix Ashimole, Esq, stated that he was not sponsored by Nigeria Law Society (NLS), anyone but driven by passionate zeal to see that NBA gets it right.
Ohazuruike Esq., who spoke via 08037…877, said that he never had confidence in the ability of Maikyau SAN to lead NBA.
Ohazuruike, Esq further revealed that he had petitioned YC during run up to his election that he did not meet the required number of meetings as a NEC Member.
The petition he said, was dismissed because NBA Board of Trustees, refused to admit the evidence he attached with claim that those minute of meetings were not signed by Taidi Gulu, then General Secretary of the NBA, despite that the said minutes of meeting were emailed to members via official email of the NBA.
TRANSPARENCY IS BETTER THAN ACCOUNTABILITY.
The nucleus of Ohazuruike, Esq.’s petition was the revelations at the AGM, particularly the allegation by Caroline Ladidi Anze-Bishop, Esq., the Treasurer of NBA. Mrs Anze-Bishop, during NBA AGM when called upon to present Treasurer’s report stated, “It will be incongruous of me to stand here and tell you that this is the financial position. It may be, but I do not know because I wasn’t involved, I wasn’t informed. It wasn’t put together by me and I will not disrespect you by standing here to give you unknown figures because I do not know the true financial position of this association.”
Ohazuruike wants EFCC to probe this and asked; What is the true financial status of NBA? How much has come into the coffers of NBA apart from the annual Bar Practicing Fee of members? How much has “sponsors” donated to NBA to carryout her activities?
Who gave NBA President the hard currency he converted into Naira and withdrew N10,000,000 for his personal expenditure? Why in cash and not paid into NBA Domiciliary Account?
At what exchange rate was it exchanged? Did NBA patronize illegal forex operator?
Were those expenditure approved by the Executive Council and reimbursement to him approved?
I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST NBA.
Ohazuruike Esq, maintained that he has nothing against NBA and his petition was not against NBA but against the manner and how the NBA President is conducting the affairs of NBA. “Maikyau has brought NBA to an abysmal low. Worse than his predecessors.” Ohazuruike roared.
ARE YOU CALLING FOR YC TO RESIGN ? 
I am not calling for his resignation.
The outcome of EFCC’s investigation, will determine what reasonable action(s) that should be demanded in the face of this monumental embarrassment Mr. Maikyau SAN has brought to NBA. “But I want, he should resign step aside for unfettered investigation to be carried out by the EFCC.”
