For some weeks now, we have not done our Sunday Sunday report of Holy Grounds in Kubwa. This is partly because I have been on the move-both physically and spiritually, rebirthing and rejuvenating myself.
Apologies tendered. Let me now answer a nagging questions from some of our readers. They ask, Bishop, when do you at The Sinners Assembly hold fellowship? Is today not Sunday, a Holy Day, why are you not in Church?
After much research and prayers, I came to this conclusion; no day is holier than any other day. There is no special day in the 4 days of igbo calendar or 7 days in European calendar. Each day is unique and you choose how holy you want it to be.
Since most of my readers are Christians and want to find fault with our reasoning, I will reason with them by citing biblical passages.
For the Muslims, so long as they say their daily 5 prayers-Salat, every day is holy except during the declaration of Ramadan, the last week of it and other ceremonial days.
The Bible in Romans 14:5, says, “One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind.
6. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God;(G) and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.”
Colossians 2:16, Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
You are to choose the day of the week that suits you and set it out for your quiet day to commune with your creator but because we are not an island and like iron sharpens iron, we often choose a day to congregate and give each other hope that; you are not alone, we need each other to be warm in the faith.
Ecclesiastes 4:10 For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!
11. Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone?
Hebrew 10:24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25. not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another(C)—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.
At the Sinners Assembly, we meet regularly to compare notes, strengthen any who is burdened by economic hardship, crawling under depression and has a need for mistress (Miss-Stress), by avoiding the source of the stimulus that produces stress.
And above all, we gather as sinners in search of grave to live through another day.
