Soul Lounge, is located strategically at the first entrance into Kubwa through Kubwa First Gate/beginning of Gado Nasko Road.
During daytime, it is an unassuming, lifeless, place that you can zoom through without being aware of its presence.
But once the sun goes to bed and the shrill sounds of the night insects are heard, Soul Lounge comes combustibly alive with different shades of flesh in display. These fleshes, are worn on different body sizes and also show signs of wear and tear.
To hide these signs and appeal to customers, these night nurses, wear heavy makeup to mask their true state.
Arguably, Soul Lounge is the organized capital of trade of the flesh in Kubwa. The nurses are not allowed to hawk their trade outside the gate of the lounge. They are found meandering in the car park and near the swimming poll side of the lounge.
They also have different price menus. If you are lodged in Soul Lounge, you can get a quickie for N5000 to N10,000 depending on how young the night is.
If you are not lodged in Soul Lounge and impatient to wait after alcohol had woken your 3rd leg, a quickie goes for N10,000-N20,000.
Despite these seaming unionized prices, you can negotiate a better deal. We were told that best deals are gotten early in the morning between the hours of 3:45 am to 5 am.
By this time, the market is coming to an end. Like Vampires running away from the rays of sun, these nurses, are desperate to “sell their market.” Some need just anything for transport or a room to spend the reaming hours before the sun fully comes out.
We also learnt that this desperation to sell below pre-3 am price, is because, most of them, live in areas where the street gates are locked and won’t be opened by street vigilantes until 6 am.
Despite the notice on the bathrooms that male and female are not allowed into the hotel.
One regular visitor to Soul Lounge, was able to get in with his camera and hmmm!
The most telling of all he saw, was unfortunate nurses, who couldn’t sell, sleeping in the toilet.
Soul Lounge strippers, flesh hawkers, after putting their prices above the reach of average hustlers in Kubwa, sleep in toilets.
So when next you are in Soul Lounge and the alcohol is making you to reason am, keep calm, you may be a knight in shining armor and rescue one at a thank you rate from the toilet.
