According to a NEC bundle made available to us, the Electoral Committee of NBA (ECNBA), will spend N32,653,300(Thirty Two Million, Six Hundred and Fifty Three Thousand, Three Hundred Naira) only, to conduct the July 16th election to elect new officers. This was after the earlier budget submitted was pruned and over 14 million yanked off by National Executive Committee of NBA at its emergency meeting in February 2022.
Of the items listed in the budget, we are curious to know, where did ECNBA organize Voters Education/Sensitization Outreach?
According to the budget, ECNBA members were to physically visit the three zones in NBA and money were earmarked for flight, hotel accommodation, Contingency for ECNBA Travels/ Accomodation/Communication expenses.
We are reliably informed and can testify that ECNBA did not visit any zone but merely held zoom meeting with the contestants and no interaction with the voters.
Interestingly all items on the budget by Electoral Committee of NBA are in Nigeria but Information Communication Technology (ICT) Service Provider, Special Needs, Interactive Voice Prompt & USSD for people living in remote areas is costed in USD to the tune of $15,000.
Total amount budgeted for ICT is N17,978,000. This amount does not include the cost of providing the platform for voting, which is being paid by NBA and not ECNBA.
