Ogwu Onoja SAN; Kubwaexpress Man Of The Week

At the heat of the struggle to abolish the infamous, oppressive park and pay illegal policy in FCT Abuja, we ran into Ogwu Onoja SAN.

We had laid a mini civil disobedience at the NYSC entrance into Tigris Crescent Maitama, forcing the traffic to slow and a fine dressed gentleman coming from court with his team of lawyers, stopped and offered us moral and legal support, stood with us briefly before leaving.

On inquiring who was this senior lawyer that stood to show solidarity, when even junior lawyers avoided us. We were told that he is Onoja SAN.

At the peak of park and pay madness, they were clamping cars even when the car has not exceeded the minutes it had paid for or when the owner of the car has change with the agent of operators of park and pay. It was one of these unfair treatment meted out to us that we were peacefully protesting when the learned silk met us.

With this his singular act of encouragement, we were emboldened and continued the protest here and there, until a judicial pronouncement by Justice Peter Affen of the High Court, Apo in 2014, made park and pay illegal and it was stopped immediately. The rest they say, is history.

Ogwu Onoja, SAN, who turned 54 this year, was born in Idah, Kogi State on 19 February 1968. He is a scholar, a publisher, an author, a  caring father, loving husband of one wife, dependable senior, easily accessible  and a jolly good fellow. He has good taste in fine things of life, ranging from quality four wheeled machines, good dresses, choice wine to fine shoes. A lover of customs, tradition and rule of law.

The learned silk, is the Agenyi-Attah of Igala Kingdom (Attah of Igala’s confidant)

A 1990 law graduate of Unijos, he did his secondary school at Ofante High School and finished up at School of Basic Studies Makirdi in 1987. LLM UniiLag 1997, he also holds postgraduate Diploma in Management from the University of Calabar 2001 and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Calabar 2002.

He is a Member, Nigeria Institute of Management, Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London, Fellow, Institute of Directors (F.loD)

He was called to Bar in 1991 and took silk in 2012. He is on the Board of Directors of some Companies such as ACEN Insurance Plc, Macks Farm Nigeria Limited, Goomeej Nigeria Limited and many more. He is a member, Capital Market Consultants registered with SEC.

Ogwu Onoja SAN, Agenyi-Attah of Igala Kingdom, is married to Rosemary Onoja and has five children.
