FIDA Bayelsa Thanksgiving To Mark End Of Law Week—-By Ebiere Emmanuella Ekpese

FIDA Nigeria, Bayelsa State Branch Law Week, 2022 held from the 6th, 7th & 11th December,  2022 with the theme: “HUMAN RIGHTS: WOMEN RIGHTS IN THE 21ST CENTURY; OUR REALITIES, kicked off on the 6th December, 2022 with the opening of her Legal Clinic, graciously sonsored by Boma Alabi, SAN.

Deme Debra Pamosoo, Chairperson, FIDA Bayelsa.

The Chairperson – Deme Debra Pamooso in her opening remarks welcomed participants as well as members of the High table amongst other things. It was followed with the official Law Week being declared opened by one of FIDA Bayelsa State Branch Grand Patron, Her Excellency, Amb. Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, ably represented by Dr. Mrs. Stella Ogolo.
Another Grand patron to FIDA Bayelsa is my Lord, the Hon. Justice Kate Abiri, CON., the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, ably represented by her brother Judge, the first FIDA Chairperson Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Matilda A. Ayemieye.
It followed with the official Law Week being declared opened by one of FIDA Bayelsa State Branch Grand Patron, Her Excellency, Amb. Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, ably represented by Dr. Mrs. Stella Ogolo. Representatives of the president Customary Court of Appeal,  Hon. justice D. A. Ayah was the Deputy Chief Registrar   Customary Court of Appeal, Nyingi .E. Eke-Spiff Utomvie Esq. The Hon. Justice Doris Adokeme was the Chaired occasion beautifully.
The Hon.Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,  Biriyai Dambo, SAN also a patron was represented by Mr. Alaowei Opokuma, the Director,  Civil Litigation, Ministry of Justice, Bayelsa State. Learned Magistrates, beautiful FIDANs, NBA members of both the Yenagoa and Sagbama Branches were not left, led by the Chairmen: U. Saiyou and Paraboma Nelson Igbomgbo. The NBA Women Forum,  the Bayelsa State Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT), National Association of Women Journalist, Medical Women Association of Nigeria,

The Hon. Commissioner for Lands and Housing represented by the Permanent Secretary gave their good will messages.

 The Key Note was delivered by Boma Alabi, SAN through the immediate past Chairperson – Tariere Egbegi.
The Panelist Session was distinguished by the following persons:
Hon. Justice Matilda A. Ayemieye, Hon.Justice  E. G Omukoro Barr. Mrs. Juliet Azokoro and beautifully moderated by Amaemi Bridget Pabor Bekeyei – Alaki.

Attendees had the opportunity to do medical Check-ups as well as Certificate of Participation presented to them. At the point of Registration, FIDA Bayelsa Stickers containing her address & hotline  were given along side the program of event.

 While concluding this session, in her Vote of thanks, the Chairperson – Deme Debra Pamosoo appreciated the support from the Bench, the Executive arm of Government, FIDA Bayelsa Patrons: the Chief Judge, the first lady of Bayelsa State and the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, as well as other distinguished for contributing to successful day.

 The ceremony was followed by the Induction 100 Students from the Faculty of Law, Niger Delta University as Associates to FIDA Bayelsa State Branch and concluded with the Annual General Meeting.

 Day 2 – 7th December, 2022 featured a Road Walk in Collaboration with NBA, NCWS, NAPTIP, NAWOJ amongst others in commemoration of the 16 Days Activism against Gender Based Violence.   

The Dinner held later in the day at the Judiciary Canteen, High Court Complex with a green carpet welcoming members and guest to the occasion.

It was gracefully attended by the Judiciary, the Ministry of Justice, the Bar and other Association like the Medical Women Association of Nigeria (MWAN),Nigerian Association of Women Journalist,Starrz Safety Initiative etc.

Highlight of the dinner was the cutting of the one year Anniversary cake of the current Executives of FIDA Bayelsa State Branch, led by the Chairperson – Deme Debra Pamosoo, Ebiere Emmanuella Ekpese – Vice Chairperson, Mercy Ayaowei – Secretary, Siya Amaso Daniel – Financial Secretary, Tamaraubrakemi Ohaka – Welfare Secretary and Aima Ailakhu Borisei as Publicity Secretary. Amidst the dinning was laughter supplied by MC Koboko who thrilled Attendees with comedy.

 It was concluding with a vote of thanks by Ebiere Emmanuella Ekpese, the Chairperson, Law Week Planning Committee.
While thanking God profusely for the grace and opportunity to chair the Committee, she recalled that today made it one month when the Committee started writing letters of Invitations and sponsorship, even though the recent flood situation would have been discouraging enough but the trust and reliance on God was unwavering, and here we are.
The 
appreciation to the Bench, FIDANS, every single person that supported one way or the other was not left out. The Committee members were deeply appreciated.

 Day 3 – 11th December, 2022 was the thanksgiving at the Royal House of Grace International Church, Greenland Parish Yenagoa. The Chairperson – Deme Debra Pamosoo recalled that when this Exco was sworn in, the Executives came to thank God and today, one year after we are back to thank him for the one year in office, for the strength He has given to carry the mandate of FIDA, for wrapping up the Law Week.
The Church Service was followed by Refreshment for the Law Week Planning Committee members.The Committee was chaired by Ebiere Emmanuella Ekpese.
Other members are Siya Daniel – Secretary, Mercy Ayaowei, Ohaka Tamaraubrakemi, Aye Kareen Clement, Oyindoubra E. Pre-Gee, Mary Ogbe and Theresa A. Ngowari
