Abuja Poor Administration Of Justice

Justice is not only served when a suspect had been sentenced to pay his dues to the state for infringing on the rights of others and that of the state.

Justice is served when the process, procedure and environment are in such a state that will put the minds of both the accused, compliant, defendant and plaintiff at rest that he or she was fairly treated and got what he deserved.

Against this backdrop, the images coming out of FCT Judiciary, particularly, the conditions of the courts, leave sour taste.

According to our judicial correspondent, Osiaje Shadrach, Magistrate Court Lugbe has 3 sitting Magistrates but share just one courtroom. When a matter is adjourned, the least date is a month’s interval. Meanwhile,  matters are heard all thru the day – Morning, afternoon and evening.

This is to ensure that litigants’ cases are heard timely. However, there is need for space as even the Court Staff share the walk ways, passages and courtroom as their offices.

The FCT High Court management is called to come to the succour of lawyers and litigants who suffer the most as well as the Magistrates and their staff.

Appeal for new Court rooms is hereby made to my Lord, the Honourable Chief Judge of the FCT.
