The NLS Class 2003, Abuja Branch, received with profound shock, grief and utter disbelief the tragic and brutal murder of our dear colleague and sister, Princess Mediatrix Chigbo, a committed and dedicated member of our class.
Princess Mediatrix was gruesomely murdered after boarding a commercial vehicle operated by criminal elements popularly known as “one chance.” Her lifeless body was later discovered by passers-by in the early hours of Tuesday 6th January 2026 at Dawaki, along the Kubwa Expressway, and subsequently deposited at the Kubwa General Hospital Mortuary by the Police.
We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, this senseless, barbaric and inhuman act. The killing of Princess Mediatrix is not only an assault on her life and dignity, but a grave affront to the collective conscience of our society and a painful reminder of the worsening state of insecurity confronting law-abiding citizens.Princess Mediatrix was a gentle, peaceful and principled colleague, whose commitment to the NLS Class 2003 Abuja Branch was evident in her constant engagement, warmth, and sense of responsibility. She participated fully at our Annual Retreat which held at Keffi, Nassarawa State in December 2025. Her untimely death has left a deep void in our class, the NBA and in the hearts of all who knew her.
We hereby call on the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough, diligent and transparent investigation into this heinous crime, with a view to identifying, apprehending and prosecuting all those responsible. We demand that the full weight of the law be brought to bear on the perpetrators, so that justice is not only done but is manifestly seen to be done.
We also urge the authorities and the Hon. Minister of the FCT to take decisive steps to curb the menace of the mindless “one chance” criminal gangs operating with impunity within our City and restore safety on our roads, particularly within the Federal Capital Territory.
On behalf of the NLS Class 2003, Abuja Branch, I extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Princess Mediatrix Chigbo. We share in your pain and loss, and we stand in solidarity with you at this very difficult time.
May the gentle and peaceful soul of Princess Mediatrix Chigbo rest in perfect peace, and may her memory remain a blessing to us all.
Signed:
Ikechuku Maledo, Esq.
Chairman
NLS Class 2003, Abuja Branch.
