Yesterday, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, delivered his welcome address at the opening ceremony of the 2025 NBA Annual General Conference in Enugu, themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall.”
In attendance were eminent personalities including the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Peter Mbah; His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar; past Presidents of the NBA; and the keynote speaker, Mr. Julius Malema, President of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), who delivered a thought-provoking keynote address.
In his speech, the NBA President urged lawyers to stand out through excellence and to stand tall through courage, especially in the face of Nigeria’s socio-economic and institutional challenges.
He emphasized that the theme of this year’s Conference is not just a slogan, but a call to service, resilience, and principled leadership.
Mr. Malema’s keynote further energized the Conference by challenging participants to embrace bold decisions that can drive economic justice, social inclusion, and true African sovereignty.With this inspiring start, the 2025 NBA Annual General Conference is set to be a week of rich intellectual exchange, robust debates, and transformative conversations on law, governance, and national progress.
