STATE OF EMERGENCY; PRESIDENT TINUBU IS IN THE RIGHT.

Those who are arguing that the President does not have the vires to suspend the leadership of two arms of civilian government in Rivers State do not seem to understand the real meaning of the term “STATE OF EMERGENCY”.
State of emergency simply means  “Martial Law”; and Martial Law simply means the temporary replacement or supplantation of civilian government by military rule, suspending civilian legal processes and potentially civil liberties.
The President must be commended for having the political will to take such decisive action in the circumstances.
It is our hope that cooler heads will prevail and that normalcy will return to the Garden City and its environs ASAP.
The citizens and residents will be better served if they cooperate with the interim Military Administrator and make the most of an ugly situation.
Godspeed.   S.U.Nwankwo Esq. (Steve Sun)
