It is with deep concern and a heavy heart that we address the recent events involving the detention of young children in the Federal Capital Territory. The prolonged detention of these children, who were moved from their respective states and face serious charges of treason, raises serious questions about the state of justice and the well-being of our youth, none of these children is up to 15 years.
Their only offense is participating in the end bad Governance protest in August. We strongly condemn this situation and call for the immediate release of these children. It is imperative that their rights and welfare are prioritized, and that any legal proceedings are conducted in a fair and timely manner. We believe that detaining children for such an extended period without due process is not only unjust but also detrimental to their physical and emotional well-being.
We urge the relevant authorities to take swift action to address this matter and ensure that the children are treated with the utmost care and compassion. We also call upon all well-meaning Nigerians to join us in condemning this situation and demanding justice for these young individuals.
We will provide an update on the situation following the arraignment today.
