The curtain will fall on NBA 2024 AGC at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium by 12 noon, today August 28th.
Yearly, lawyers look forward to the AGM, which is the height decision making organ of the NBA.
Unfortunately, AGM like NEC and other organs of the NBA have become a tool in the hands of any sitting president to push willy-nilly his agenda, which often is at crossroads with the interest of majority of lawyers.
Tension is high and sparks are expected to fly as the decision of AGM 2023 held in Abuja, is still shrouded in mystery.
This being the last AGM to be chaired by the embattled NBA President, bush telegraph has it that all and sundry will come with a long knife to take a chunk off the sitting duck YC Maikyau’s administration has become.
Top on the carving table, is the Treasurer. She has not hidden the fact that, like 2023 AGM, she will not present any Financial report. She predicated her unwillingness to do so, on the fact that, the President and the General Secretary ran the finance of the Bar like a piggy bank.
She has no desire to append her signature to statement of financial affairs of the NBA, she knew not how much entered and how they were withdrawn.
Another volcanic eruption being anticipated, will come from the Second Vice President.
At last AGM, he fired the first shot, accusing the NBA President of sidelining him; hardly giving him any responsibility to carry out in line with constitutionally enshrined roles for his office.
Despite these two “enemies”, the grapevine is ripe with juicy news that the 3rd Vice President, will join the fray and take a potshot at NBA President.
Like a bull in a china shop, we are reliably informed that the NBA President, is hell bent in goring his way through, insisting that posterity will be nice to him, when his administration is judged.
