As NBA Election 2024 nosedives into the crunch D-Day of July 20th, the airwaves are full of endorsements.
Some from reputable lawyers, some from dinosaurs, who have no relevance in the scheme of things but for the optics, they are exhumed to add deodorant to candidates chances of winning.
This, litany of endorsements, remind me of a book I read donkey years ago Nkem Nwankwo, titled My Mercedes Is Bigger Than Yours. 
You have SAN endorse you? We will get two to endorse our candidate. You say past chairmen of XYZ Branches had endorsed you? We have a regional body’s endorsement.
The religious bodies or are they fellowship, are not left out and you would be tempted to ask, what were the criteria used to adopt one Christian by a Christian body and leave the other?
Of what use are these endorsements, is the party endorsing fails to mobilise votes for the party he, she or they had endorsed? How can the party that endorsed enforce compliance within their, his or her sphere of influence? 
The only endorsement I would have taken seriously, is the endorsement of any of the presidential candidate by one or a cluster of candidates in the race.
I want to see an endorsement reading like this “We the undersigned, candidates in the forthcoming NBA Election, after painful consideration of the manifesto and antecedents of the 3 Presidential Candidates, haven encountered them and interacted with them in the course of our crisscrossing the over 128 NBA Branches, we have chosen to endorse…
and urge our teeming supporters, to vote for him, as under his leadership and guidance, we will be able to fulfil all the campaign promises we made.”
Is it suicidal to do so?
I don’t think so. Most of the electorates we spoke to, will only support your candidate for this or that, if you are supporting his or her presidential candidate. 
I therefore urge candidates to endorse a presidential candidate, also they should have a list of fellow candidates they would love to be in the same Exco with and go about drumming support for such, who made it to the list!
