In the past 5 years, no Nigerian woman has stood out to be counted alongside the suffering masses of Nigeria like Aisha Sometochukwu Yesufu. Her compassion against injustice, oppression is infectious and has propelled her to dare where men dread to whisper.
She is courageous like the historical amazons that had graced Nigeria’s political landscape. She is the shrilled chilling voice at every Bring Back Our Girls campaign sit out at Unity Fountain. A firm character, a mother and a friend.
Aisha Somtochukwu Yesufu’s parents are from Agbede in Edo state but she was born on December 12, 1973 and raised in Kano state.
She is a microbiology graduate of Bayero University Kano (BUK)
Her dare devil nature and courage in the face of any brutality, catapulted her to dare the police and unconsciously became one of the iconic figures of the End SARS protest.
For her contribution to the struggle against oppression and highlighting the plight of children-boys and girls, vulnerable women in Nigeria, she was listed among 2020 BBC’s 100 women and also included in New African Magazine’s 2020 Top Most Influential Africans.
