PROTOCOL
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen.
It is with great pleasure I welcome you on behalf of my Executive and the entire members of our vibrant branch to the 2023 Law week programme of our branch, with the theme: “Legal Practice Beyond Borders” this year’s theme is imperative and relevant to global realities and resonates across legal practice because as lawyers, we play a pivotal roles as political, economy reformist and social engineers.
Therefore, with emerging global opportunities provided by the development of an increasingly integrated global economy marked especially by free trade and the commercialization of technology and its affiliate market i.e. artificial intelligence.
To give life and meaning to our theme, we chose a distinguished and exceptional speaker that will thoroughly dissect the topic, enlighten and broaden our understanding on this all-important theme with a view to snowball and roll up our vision to novel and emerging opportunities.
As we are aware, our branch made its debut appearance and participated at the 2023 Nigerian Bar Association Conference National Sports competition.
The branch performed incredibly well and exceeded expectations given the fact that it was our maiden appearance. We congratulate the branch, especially our players as we look forward to a more thrilling and fascinating outing in the year 2024 with our cooperation and collective support.
Under my watch, the welfare of our members is our topmost priority especially members who due to one challenge or the other are unable to attend to their basic needs.
This connotes that the branch has keyed into the Agenda of our National President in ensuring free medical care for all lawyers with terminal and non terminal illnesses.
We want to specially use this medium to thank a very supportive senior member of our branch, Hon. Barr. Mohammed H. Abdullahi who under my watch as Chairman donated 18-seater Hiace Bus to the branch. This thoughtful and kind gesture is commendable and we urge other members with financial strength and capacity to be motivated by this sheer act of generosity and comradeship to support the branch especially with the building, completion and furnishing of the NBA KEFFI BAR CENTER of which foundation has been laid since 2022.
As Learned Gentlemen, we need a structure befitting of our status, we therefore, call on our dignitaries to graciously and handsomely support the branch financially to enable us build a place that all members can proudly call a Secretariat for lawyers within and outside the branch.
Health, we all know is wealth and to put this to practice, the Leadership of the branch under my watch has provided free medical outreach to lawyers in the branch with the sole aim of ensuring our Distinguished members are healthy and fit to carry out their tasking duties without challenge.
In a whole, the year 2023 has been eventful for the branch and to round up the year, the activities of the law week is not expected to fall short of expectation as we have a lineup of other activities that will cater to our developmental and social needs and the law week planning committee under the leadership of our Life Chairman, Sir, Eric Irehorbude has worked tirelessly to ensure we have a hitch free and memorable experience.
We sincerely appreciate all of you for taking time out of your tight schedule to honor and grace the occasion. We wish you all a happy and memorable time with us.
