Welcome Address Of The Chairman Nigerian Bar Association Garki Branch, Obioma Ezenwobodo Esq, At The NBA Garki Branch Law Week Holding At The NBA National Secretariat, CBD, Abuja On 18th September 2023.

On behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association Garki Branch, Abuja (Liberty Bar), I warmly welcome you to the maiden edition of the Branch Law Week.
As we all know, this is the first Law Week of the Branch and the idea behind the theme: ‘Keeping Pace’ is to refocus the mind, interest and resolve of our members and other delegates on the fast changing terrain of legal practice in other to equip themselves with the necessary tools to excel and play the critical role of being change agents in the society.
In doing this, we have assembled an array of seasoned, eminent  and experienced experts in their various fields to do justice to the theme of the law week, the topics and all issues that would arise at the course of the event.
As we sit back to enjoy the various sessions, may I humbly encourage us to join the virtual sessions tomorrow 19th September 2023 through the Zoom rink and equally register to attend the Branch Dinner on the evening of same date at National Press Centre, Radio House, Herbert Macaulay Way, Garki Abuj.
May I equally remind us that this maiden law week marks the maiden edition of  Liberty Bar Journal published in Honour of his Lordship, the Honourable Justice Husseini Baba-Yusuf, the Chief Judge, High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The idea behind this move is to recognize the transformational and innovative policies of his Lordship in piloting the affairs of the High Court of FCT which has engendered more access to justice by creation of the Garki Judicial Division of the Court and many other remarkable innovations.

I use this great opportunity to appreciate his Lordship for his sterling leadership which is worthy of emulation. Thank you my Lord!
The journal exposes new areas of practice, interrogate recondite legal issues and proffer solutions to various existential challenges faced in our society.
The articles cuts across different fields of human endeavor and the contributors are seasoned and experienced giants in their various fields. Equally, the journal is of international standard as it was peer reviewed by seasons academics in various institutions of learning.
I encourage us all to get our copies and place orders for our friends, institutions of learning and places of work.
The NBA Garki Branch, Abuja despite being a new branch of the NBA has grown astronomically and made remarkable strides in promoting the rule of law, increasing access to justice, expanding the practice scope of members, fostering legal education, empowerment initiatives and a lot more.
Despite theses remarkable feats, we are still constrained due to limited resources, office space an.  d mobility to move around in order to fulfill the mandate of the association. I honestly hope that we all will continue encouraging and supporting the Branch in its quest to continue keeping pace on its mandate.

May I use this great opportunity to appreciate the NBA President Mr. Yakubu Maikyau SAN and his ably led national officers for all their support and encouragement to the Branch. My special appreciation goes to Mr Moyosore Onigbanjo SAN,the keynote speaker, for accepting the invitation to be part of this event.
I also appreciate all Liberty Bar members in the house, the Law Week committee ably chaired by Clement Osuya
FCIArb,UK, friends of the Branch and all the sponsors of this event for offering supports and encouragements despite the challenging state of the economy.
