Osun-Osogbo Festival Holds On Friday

According to the Curator and Site Manager of Osun-Osogbo Groove, Mr Aworeni Joseph, the hardship caused by the removal of subsidy, will not affect the expected turn-out of devotees and tourists at the grand finale of the event on Friday. Joseph, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Osogbo, said that all necessary arrangements had been made towards the success of the festival.The Osun festival, also known as the Osun-Osogbo Festival is a festival held to honor the river goddess Osun.
The festival is held at the Osogbo Sacred Forest, with devotees and tourists from all over the world coming to pray and sacrifice to the goddess Osun.The Osun Festival is a two-week-long program. It starts with the traditional cleansing of the town called ‘Iwopopo’, which is followed by three days of lighting of the 500-year-old sixteen-point lamp called ‘Ina Olojumerindinlogun’.
