IT GIVES ME GREAT PLEASURE to welcome everyone to this year’s Law Week. Law Week of Kaduna Branch of the NBA is like no other Law Week. It is an event that has remained unbroken for over 30 years.
This year’s Law Week Committee members were carefully selected. 
I must commend the painstaking efforts of the committee. We are all witnesses to the wonderful innovative ways of thinking and delivery. Personally I remain grateful to all members of the committee.
On behalf of the branch generally, I welcome all our invited guests, dignitaries and my fellow colleagues from all branches of the Nigerian Bar Association from Kaduna, Zaria, Kafanchan and Barnawa. | welcome specially our colleagues from outside Kaduna State warmly to Kaduna.
The keynote speaker is a Learned Silk from Lagos. A former Chairman of NBA Lagos Branch.
I welcome Chukwuka Ikuazom SAN. he would be speaking on the theme of the Law Week also carefully crafted as LEVEL UP: UPLIFTING THE STANDARD OF LEGAL PRACTICE.
Mazi Afam Osifwe, SAN will lead a conversation on – In The Eye Of The Storm- Lawyers & The Wider Society; Whither The Relationship?
While Tobenna Erojikwe Esq shall be lead the discussion on- Show Me The Money- Improving Remuneration & Scale of Fees For Lawyers. I thank all the panelist with specific mention of Kazeem Oladepo, VP IHS Towers who also donated generously to the Law Week.
There is urgent need for lawyers to upgrade the level or standard of their practice. It is no longer a matter of choice if we want to remain relevant in today’s scheme of things.
It is either we scale up our practice and look at other emerging areas or we go into oblivion. Gentlemen, permit me to specially appreciate our amiable NBA President who has been kind to us and our branch.
The President has taken special liking for members of my branch and myself. He has been too generous to us. Under his leadership in less than a year, we have witnessed many growth and responsible interventions in several areas.
Under his leadership, I chaired a committee which did a wonderful work by justifying its recommendations for upward review of salaries and allowances of Judges and Justices. Mr. President, we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of the noble assignment.
I thank all my leaders in the branch.
