NBA Bwari has over the years, especially during transition, enjoyed relative peace. This was not achieved by fluke but due to painstaking sacrificial efforts made by founding fathers of the Branch.
But like a ripe mango fruit, all manner of stones are being hauled at her, to bring her to the level of other Branches that are crisis ridden.
This is so because members from crisis infested Branches, have found membership in Bwari and as a leopard cannot change its spots, these ones are not willing to abandon their former branches crisis attitude.
One of the things the founding fathers laid down, was harmonious sharing of posts among the 3 zones in NBA. This is for inclusion akin to Federal Character at national body polity.
The zones in NBA are; North, South East & South West.
As is Convention and not contained in any provisions of the Uniformed Bye Law, the elders unanimously agreed that, the zoning of offices shall be when North is contesting for Chairman, the South East, will be allowed to contest for Secretary to the exclusion of all other zones. Same is applicable to the post of Vice Chairman.
This year, following the ancient wisdom of the founding fathers, wisdom whose application had given the branch peace and sense of inclusion to all, the Chairmanship is zoned to the North, Vice Chairmanship to the South West and Secretary to the South East.
Respectfully, no zone other than the North is contesting for Chairman. No zone other than the South East, is contesting for Secretary but worrisomely two aspirants from South East, had collected collected and submitted nomination form to contest for Vice Chairmanship meant for South West.
As is our ancient landmark tradition in NBA Bwari, we detonate political land mines before it becomes a threat to our peaceful existence and make us like other crisis ridden Bars.
Against this backdrop and need to maintain harmony in the Branch, I call on members of NBA Bwari from South East, to prevail on their brothers, to adhere to the existing zoning protocol in the Branch. It is their Bye Law right to even contest for Chairmanship with the North but need one bother to remind them of the consequences of such misadventure?
South West respectfully abstained from muddling the water, why shouldn’t South East, respect this convention?
Paul Daudu, Esq., from North, is unopposed and coasting home.
Celeb Owowo, Esq & Chinyere Mokaeme both from South East are contest for Secretary without intrusion by any other zone.
But Hajarat Titilope Gbolagade the only South Western in the race for VC, is sandwiched by two Aspirants from South East, who are threatening to suffocate her.
A stitch in time, saves a boxer from over tearing and exposing scabies of the owner. Let us chase away this fox before it gets into the poultry and scatter the peace in NBA Bwari.
Forms had just been submitted, awaiting screening. These Aspirants from South East, should respectfully withdraw before they waste energy in divisive campaigns that will do their reputation no good and seal their chances of ever getting cooperation from other zones, should they or South East, want to have exclusive right to any post in the future, in NBA Bwari.
