As we draw the curtain on 2022 and roll up for 2023, I wish to express my gratitude in no particular order of importance, to the following;
Nne. She is simply Nne and was outstandingly motherly to me this year. From her breast of wealth and kindness, will I crave to suck again, daily throughout the remain days of 2022 and 2023. May our faithfulness keep us close like anus and the left hand.
YC Maikyau SAN, the 31st NBA President. I was introduced to him by Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN and we struck a different prodigal son-father’s. Now he is NBA President, occupied by affairs of the Bar and army of civilian bodyguards, I miss our tea time. We talked about anything under the son. He contributed to stabilizing me this year but he has failed to get me into wearing red tie.
OC Entertainment. If you don’t know him, you are not a Barman. OC Entrainment is a ghost of competence, dependable and part of Kubwaexpress’ backbone. He can find fault in every story published and insist that it be edited. This though tiresome, helped me a great deal in being a better, considerate user of vulgar adjectives.
My family, Payinda’s Amazons:
Hmmmm!!!! I deserve a medal for keeping up with them. From their mother to the last child, they are a delight and mischievously lovely. They made everyday of 2022, worth it. I honestly deserve a gold chain to remind me of the bondage their love and sacrifices have been in making me to remain uniquely me.
50 Lawyers For Afam At 50. These were the lawyers I had the unforgettable experience of working with, to mark the 50th Birthday of NBA’s Golden Boy. Their commitment and keeping to deadline, not fighting for limelight, rekindled my hope that we have resourceful, multi-talented lawyers at the Bar.
My siblings. 2022, had us at each other’s throats but las las, it wasn’t to cut any throat but to understand that though we sucked the same breast, we are unique entities deserving of respect from one another despite coming from the same birth carnal.
Olumide Akpata. We won’t repeat it again in 2023 but in 2022, he was a factor that shaped my 2nd half of the year. Despite our outbursts, Presido, made me appreciate leadership and how to deal with an irritant. I was very very irritating but he kept his cool. I still find it difficult to delete private WhatsApp messages between me and him. In 2023, I hope to be nice to others who offend me, as he was to me.
My mother! Ever since my mischievous cousins have thought her how to view WhatsApp status, my day is not complete without chastising! The flip side of it, I like it. It still reminds me that I am also someone’s child and not above discipline. Come 2023, I will be a better person-I will block her on WhatsApp and only call her when we have to talk-daily between 4am-6am
Afam Josiah Osigwe. Hmmmm!! Is all that I can say without being accused of all sorts by you. You see, Mazi nnem, can charm off any iron pant with his smile, charisma and calm forcefulness. 2022, wouldn’t have been as memorable as it is for me, if not for his 78.3% contribution.
This has also placed me in the firing range/crosshairs of many people but again, who can behold Mazi’s smile, hug, humility and mischief without being seduced?
