Lagos State has emerged as the national leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise, recording the highest number of registered members among Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
The exercise, launched in December 2025 and set to close on January 31, 2026, aims to digitally register party members across the country.
Lagos State, which began registration on January 5, 2026, quickly overtook Delta State, which had maintained the lead for nearly three months.
Within just 15 days, Lagos achieved record numbers, positioning itself towards meeting its broader target of millions of registered members.
Comrade Prince Ayodele Adewale, Lagos State Coordinator of the APC E-Registration Exercise, attributed the rapid success to strategic planning, close collaboration with local government stakeholders, party members at the ward units and the use of technology to track and manage registrations efficiently.
He expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Executive Governor of Lagos State; Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamsat; Rt. Hon. Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa and all members of the Lagos State House of Assembly for their unrelenting support.
He further thanked Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC Party Chairman and his executive for providing strong leadership, as well as all GAC members led by Prince Oluyole Olusi for organizing strategic planning meetings and motivating party members.
He commended the visionary leadership and unwavering dedication of all executive chairmen at the local government councils, led by Engr. Sesan Olowa, Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, as well as APC party chairmen across the 57 LG/LCDA, apex leaders across the 57 LG/LCDA’s, strategic stakeholders and partners, the 20 LG Supervisors and all registration agents. He emphasized that their collective efforts, commitment and selfless service were instrumental in driving the success of the exercise and strengthening the party’s grassroots engagement.
Prince Adewale expressed profound appreciation for the exceptional dedication and selfless service of his team-the five Senatorial Admin., whose leadership was pivotal to this historic achievement. The Senatorial Admin. include Dr. Muritala Seriki (APC Youth Leader / Senatorial Admin, Lagos East/Ikorodu Axis), Mr. Opeoluwa Adebodun-Topronu (Secretary, Lagos State E-Registration Committee / Senatorial Admin, West 1 Alimosho-Ikeja Axis), Alhaji Sarafadeen Ola Ibrahim (Senatorial Admin, West 2 Badagry Axis), Mr. Patrick Oyadina (Senatorial Admin, Lagos Central) and Mr. Abdulwaliu Balogun (Senatorial Admin, Lagos East/Ibeju Lekki-Epe Axis).
Comrade Adewale emphasized that their extraordinary commitment, unwavering dedication and selflessness were instrumental in achieving this milestone. Their tireless efforts and steadfast support, he noted, are immeasurable and embody the spirit of service, leadership and collective responsibility that drives the success of the APC at the grassroots level. He also expressed gratitude to the technical team, led by Mr. Emmanuel Alabi, for working tirelessly day and night to configure all the equipments essential to achieving this success.
Looking ahead, Prince Adewale stated that with 11 days remaining in the exercise, the APC’s nationwide registration effort, particularly in Lagos State, is expected to achieve even greater success as party members continue to ensure full registration.
The e-registration system is geofenced to wards, local governments and states. It allows for precise monitoring of members and coordination of party programs. Officials say the process reflects a broader trend of digital transformation in Nigerian politics, enhancing transparency, accountability and grassroots engagement.
Lagos State’s achievement underscores the potential of technology-driven political initiatives and the determination of local actors to strengthen democratic participation at the grassroots level.
