On October 8th, 2003, five brave students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, were gruesomely murdered by suspected cultists:
1. Andrew Airiohuodion.
2. Jossy Ajoguntan.
3. Emmanuel Onogbosele.
4. Onyemeke Jeffery.
5. Kelly OmoroThey were members of the Anti-Cult Crusade Organisation of Nigeria (ACCON) a student movement that stood boldly against cultism and violence on campus.
Through their efforts, peace returned to campus life, and many students were able to graduate safely, students who are today contributing meaningfully to society.
In the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: “Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal.”
These young men stood for peace and paid the ultimate price for it. They are remembered today as the ACCON 5, united by courage, vision, and a shared destiny.
As G.K. Chesterton said: “The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.”
Today, we remember them.
We honor their legacy.
We pray that their souls rest in God’s eternal peace and that their sacrifice will never be in vain.
ACCON 5 – Heroes of Peace. Forever in our hearts.
