The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) said one Njimogu Ikedi has been arrested while attempting to smuggle items suspected to be cannabis sativa and other psychoactive substances into the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje while visiting an inmate.
Ikedi was arrested at about 12:45 on Saturday, Mr Samson Duza, the public relations officer for NCoS FCT Command said in a statement on Monday. According to the statement, Ikedi concealed the suspected cannabis sativa and other psychoactive substances in his clothing. 
He said that the contraband was uncovered during a routine search by personnel on duty.
He quoted the Controller of Corrections in charge of the FCT Command, Mr Christopher Jen, as ordering the suspect’s apprehension.
Jen also directed immediate handover of the suspect to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
