Terrorists Attack Asokoro Extension Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a terrorist attack on Kpaduma III, an extension community near Asokoro in Abuja, where heavily armed assailants struck on Monday night, killing a vigilante member and leaving several others injured, as frightened residents fled in panic.
The attack, which began around 9:15 p.m. on September 15, 2025, was described by locals as one of the most frightening incidents in recent memory.
The FCT Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday by Josephine Adeh, its spokesperson.
Eye witnesses reported sustained gunfire, including grenade-like blasts, as the gunmen stormed homes and clashed with local vigilantes.
According to residents, the attackers, believed to have come from the nearby Kobi community, opened fire indiscriminately, injuring some residents in the process.
They were also said to have used two young women as human shields while attempting to flee.According to reports, one of the vigilantes, identified simply as “Bako,” was fatally shot during the exchange of fire, while another sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to the National Hospital. Doctors later confirmed Bako dead, while the injured vigilante remains in critical but stable condition.
Some residents alleged that the house targeted in the raid had previously been flagged for security lapses.
According to the statement, Ajao Adewale, Commissioner of Police for FCT, led a swift response team, including senior officers from operations, the Rapid Response Squad, and Asokoro Division to the scene.
“On sighting the police team, the assailants opened fire, using two female victims as human shields to escape.
“The police team, however, engaged them in a fierce chase and successfully rescued the two victims unhurt,” the statement read.
The Commissioner commended the bravery of the officers and extended condolences to the family of the deceased vigilante.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report strange faces or suspicious activities to the police through the Command’s emergency lines.
