Better is the end of a thing than the beginning..
—Ecclesiastes 7:8
I wish to thank God Almighty for a successful completion of my 1-yr tenure as interim NLS NPPRS.
Law practice is more of a vocation, though we have also been made to understand that law practice is actually a business, albeit a conservative type of business
I don’t know about Nigeria; but i know there are stringent antitrust Laws in advanced jurisdictions, such as the United States, guarding against the concentration of economic power in the form of monopolies and/or other anticompetitive practices.
That is why I personally support the whole idea of the NLS, to complement the functions of the NBA.
I have however maintained that the problem of Nigerian Lawyers is neither the NBA nor the NLS, rather some of the unreasonable individuals we find/encounter from time to time within these entities.
A perfect example being the attitude of the erstwhile NLS Executive Director, who sought to pull down the beams and pillars of the NLS at the 11th hour, like Samson did in Judges 16:21-31.
It’s been an honor to serve as interim Nigerian Law Society, National Publicity & Public Relations Secretary. I thank you all for the opportunity and wish the Law Society peace and success in their future endeavors.
As I bid farewell, I am grateful for the experience and lessons learned; and i am proud of the legacies I am leaving behind, chief amongst which is the official NLS Prayer, which i had the honour and rare privilege of drafting.
As i fully return to the NBA, it is my hope that the two organizations can harmoniously coexist and foster greater collaboration all to the benefit of the Legal Profession, Nigerians and the world at large.
May the organization continue to thrive and uphold justice in Nigeria and beyond.
Thank you once more for the opportunity to serve and God bless.
