FCT Electricity To Be Rationed For 14 Days.

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a total blackout in Abuja for 14 days.
Due to the dualisation of roads in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), which has affected some towers along the corridor.
As a result, there will be dismantling and construction of towers, as well as restringing of power cables.
The eight 132kV and 33kV towers will be relocated along the Kukwaba/Apo 132kV line (Outer Southern Expressway route).
In a statement, TCN said the relocation will necessitate a planned power outage from Monday, 6 January, to Monday, 20 January 2025, from 9 am to 4 pm daily. This is the estimated duration for the dismantling and construction of the towers, as well as restringing of the power cables, which will enable the resumption of bulk power supply to the Apo Transmission Substation from Gwagwalada Substation.
Consequently, there will be a rationing of electricity supply for AEDC’s customers in Kubwa, Karu, Maraba, Nyanya, Masaka, Keffi, Kukwaba, and Apo Mechanic.
The statement also noted that parts of Lugbe, Trademore Estate, Pyakasa, Sabon Lugbe, Chika, and Alaita axis will be affected. While the relocation of the transmission towers is a necessity for the road completion project, TCN apologised for the inconvenience this planned power outage will cause and assured that power supply will be restored as soon as the tower relocation and cable stringing are completed.
In a separate statement, AEDC said areas to be affected include Lugbe and environs, Airport Road, Kapwa, NNPC, Games Village, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, Indoor Complex, Christ Embassy Church, and the American International School. Other areas include Spring Court, American Embassy Quarters, EFCC Headquarters, Coca-Cola, Railway, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), parts of Apo, parts of Gudu, Gbazango and environs, parts of Kubwa, Bwari and environs, parts of Jahi, parts of Jabi, Karu, Nyanya, Mararaba, Keffi and environs, and other parts of Abuja.
