Maxwell KYON was born on the 6th September, 1976 in Kaduna town to the family of Simon Akura Kyon and Lami Simon Kyon.
Maxwell Kyon’s educational journey began at St. Anne’s Primary School in Kakuri, Kaduna in the year 1980 to 1987, where he established a solid foundation for his learning.
He continued his education at St. Michael’s Secondary School in Aliade, Benue in the year 1988, and later concluded his secondary studies at Government College in Kaduna in the year 1994, setting the stage for his future legal pursuits.Legal Studies and Call to the Bar.
Inspired by a strong desire to promote justice, Kyon attended the University of Jos, where he studied law with great enthusiasm and graduated in 2001.
His dedication to his studies earned him a place at the Nigerian Law School in Enugu, where he performed excellently well. In 2003, Kyon marked a significant milestone in his career when he was called to the Nigerian Bar, ready to make a difference in the legal landscape.
Christian Life.
During his early years, he began his spiritual journey as an altar boy and later became a member of the choir at Holy Family Catholic Church, Barnawa in Kaduna.While in the university, he experienced a profound rededication to his faith, which inspired him to explore the pentecostal movement and ultimately joined the Living Faith Church and was baptised by immersion in 2005.
His commitment to God was reflected in all aspects of his life, influencing his relationships with friends, colleagues, family, and the broader community. He was passionate about sharing the word of God and often spoke about the miraculous and transformative experiences he encountered throughout his spiritual journey.
Marriage and Family Life.
In 2008, Mr: Kyon married Altine Maxwell Kyon, the daughter of the late Solomon Malabari Kumo, Esq, a respected lawyer.
Together, they had two children, David Maxwell Kyon and Michael Kyon, fostering a family environment that values education and social justice.
Professional Career.
After his call to the Bar, Mr: Kyon served his country during the National Youth Service Corps NYSC) in Benin City, Edo State. Seeking to bolster his practical experience and legal expertise, he joined, J. B. Daudu SAN & Co., a well-respected legal firm in 2004. His time there equipped him with valuable insights that would greatly benefit his future pursuits.
Establishment of Legal Firms.
Driven by a vision to create a lasting impact in the legal field, Kyon founded Maxwell Kyon & Associates in 2008. His firm quickly gained recognition for its commitment to legal excellence and client advocacy.
In 2020, he took his ambitions further by launching Gavel & Scale Consultants, aiming to expand his practice across Nigeria, particularly in Abuja and Jos.
This expansion illustrates his foresight and adaptability in an evolving legal environment.
Contributions to the Legal Community and Advocacy.
Mr. Kyon’s influence extended beyond his personal practice; he was an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and has took on numerous leadership roles. Notably, he served as Secretary of the NBA Kaduna Branch from 2021 to 2023, contributing to various committees focused on Law Week, Dinners, Human Rights, Bar and Bench Forums, and Public Interest Litigation. Additionally, he was the Chairman of the Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON) Kaduna Chapter, reinforcing his commitment to legal and spiritual principles.
Contribution to the Alumni Association of the University of Jos.
Mr. Kyon also made significant contributions to the University of Jos Alumni Association, serving as the National Legal Adviser to its National Executive Committee and led the Kaduna Chapter for several years. His ongoing involvement demonstrates his dedication to supporting the alumni community and the university’s mission.
Human Rights and Justice Advocacy.
Mr. Kyon’s passion for justice extended into the realm of human rights advocacy.
In 2023, he established the Maxwell Kyon Foundation for Human Rights & Justice Advocacy, reflecting his commitment to promoting equity, equality and gender rights. His work addressed critical issues like electoral justice and the protection of human rights, positioning him as a leader in the field.

As a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Mr. Kyon showcased his versatility and expertise in arbitration, further enriching his legal practice and was also a Notary Public.
