NBA Damaturu’s Branch Election, scheduled to hold on Saturday 10th August, has suffered a hitch, and will no longer hold tomorrow.
The Appeal Committee(North) has in the interim directed that the election be postponed for one week, to enable the Branch’s Electoral Committee and all parties respond to the allegations contained in a petition challenging its decision.
This is against the backdrop of the inability of the NBA Damaturu Electoral Committee to respond to the petition of Abdullahi Adamu Nikau, Esq. against its decision. 
In a petition addressed to The Chairman Nigerian Bar Association, Election Appeal Committee, For Northern Branches, the Petitioner being dissatisfied with the decision of the Election Committee NBA Damaturu Branch 2024 to clear M M Ngumurumi Esq. aspirant for the office of the NBA Chairman, whom the Petitioner alleged is not eligible to contest because he had served the Branch in 2 consecutive tenures; elected Branch Assistant Secretary from 2020 to 2022 and was subsequently reelected a branch Secretary General 2022 to 2024.
According sources in NBA Appeal Committee, For Northern Branches, the Chairman of NBA Damaturu Branch’s Electoral Committee has not responded to the petition forwarded to him and has till midnight of Sunday 11th August to respond. Against this backdrop and all known principles of fairness, justice and hearing from all parties, the Appeal Committee had served a notice to Damaturu Branch to postpone the election, for 7 (Seven) days.
Despite this notice duly communicated to the Electoral Committee, KUBWAEXPRESS, has been reliably informed that the Branch is still insisting on proceeding with the Election tomorrow 10th of August, in clear violation of the directive from the Appeal Committee.
When reached, a member of the Appeal Committee warned that, Damaturu Branch should not proceed with the Election until the pending appeal is decided and the directive to postpone the election vacated.
The Committee has till Sunday 11th of August to respond, why conduct election when the window to respond, had not closed?
