I am deeply honored to extend my warmest greetings and best wishes to the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch, on the significant occasion of your 2024 Law Week.
The theme for this year, “Public Governance in Troubled Times: Safeguarding the Rule of Law in Nigeria,” is both pertinent and pressing, reflecting the critical challenges and responsibilities we face as legal practitioners in these complex times.
As we gather on the 21st day of June, 2024, at the Bar Centre, NBA Ikeja Branch, we are reminded of our crucial role in upholding the rule of law, especially during periods of uncertainty and turmoil. The commitment to maintaining robust legal frameworks and advocating for fair governance is indispensable for ensuring stability, justice, and the protection of citizens’ rights.The legal profession stands as a bulwark against the erosion of democratic principles and the rule of law. Our duty extends beyond the courtroom to influencing policy, supporting good governance, and promoting transparency and accountability in public life. This Law Week provides an essential forum for addressing these issues and exploring ways to reinforce our legal institutions.
I salute the leadership and members of the Ikeja Branch for your steadfast commitment to the ideals of justice and legal excellence. Your dedication to addressing the pressing issues of public governance and the rule of law is both admirable and necessary for the advancement of our society.As a candidate for the office of the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, I am devoted to promoting the values of transparency, justice, and effective advocacy. I pledge to work diligently to enhance the visibility of our association’s endeavors and to ensure that our collective voice is influential in shaping national policy and discourse.
May this Law Week be filled with insightful discussions, innovative ideas, and a renewed commitment to our professional duties. Together, let us continue to champion the rule of law as the bedrock of good governance and a just society.
