Dr. Gerald Abonyi Solicits EBF Support

EASTERN BAR: When routing for effective leadership don’t neglect the voice of reason.

Both “sympathy” and “capacity” have eight letters each. But they mean two different things altogether, in both philosophical ideality and logical reality. While one arises from unmerited emotional bias, and/or surreal pity, the other stems from, and amplifies ability to perform and meet expectations, irrespective of bias or preference of the beneficiary/benefactor. One breeds mediocrity, the other cultivates excellence.
Election period is a blunt situation in which we choose without third option, either to patronize mediocrity or champion excellence, by consciously appealing to either sympathy or capacity respectively.
Before us presently, is a sharp choice to make. A choice that will shape our expectations of our representation at the NBA national. A choice that will determine if we will progress or regress as a regional professional body, (and by extension, nationally) with regards to fostering members’ welfare.
This is not about left or right, as Americans have it in their partisan politics. It is about how we intend to run our common fraternal creed in order to engender harmonious allegiance of both the leaders and the led, to the corporeal wellbeing of all men and women of the Bar. This dice that is cast, will plot the ultimate graph of how our region/national will fare in the next three years, when welfare p packages and profitable aluta representation counts.
Aware of the intricacies and realistic demands and obligations of the fundamental duties of the 1st Vice President’s office, Dr. Gerald Ugochukwu Abonyi courageously declared his interest to go for us. He has made it clear in unambiguous terms, that he is headed for classical, efficient and effective representation in the national office.
Since he made this declaration, the support and nodding he has received from majority of our members across boards is an eloquent testimony of the acceptance he enjoys among lawyers within and outside the Eastern Bar. And this had spurred him on, to further consolidate his manifesto which he swore will be his bond between him and the members in line with their yearnings and aspirations.
He built fabulous relationship and endeared himself to Bar men and women with his selfless philanthropic ventures. He accomplished several out-of-pocket human capital management projects to younger lawyers in order to help them find their footing and establish themselves in our dear profession. From personal purse he provided succor and delivered quality mentorship services to many.Today, he aspires to enthrone exemplary leadership in NBA politics and governance as he solicits the support of all members. The ball is in our court as an Association seeking to consolidate our relevance in all fronts. Let us key into his didactic political philosophy and give ourselves the best regime in the office of 1stVice president. We can’t continue to toe the same paths strewn with footprints of status quo. Innovation demands that we give sound minds chance to lead. Time is now to give chance for innovators of professional association leadership like Dr. Gerald to make the difference.
“A wise and frugal Government,” says Thomas Jefferson, “is one which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circlue of our felicities.”
Good men and women of Eastern Bar, Dr. Gerald is your best bargain. Give him all the needed support, and vote for him to go to Abuja and speak for us. We should not miss this golden opportunity to get it right.
May God bless our decisions.
