In a bid to truly reflect the federal character of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, the Chief Judge of the FCT, Hon. Justice H.Baba Yusuf, has called for nominations from 12 States to fill 12 vacant positions at the Bench. The states whose presence are missing and need to be represented are;
- Bauchi State.
- Bayelsa State.
- Enugu State.
- Imo State.
- Kogi State.
- Kwara State.
- Lagos State,
- Oyo State.
- Plateau State.
- Rivers State.
- Taraba State.
- Zamfara State.
A statement made available to newsmen and posted on relevant boards at the FCT High Court Complex, reads; I wish to inform Your Lordships, the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association that the Hon. Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman, National Judicial Council has given approval for the commencement of the exercise for the consideration of candidates to the Bench of the Federal Capital Territory High Court. This phase of the appointment will consider eligible candidates from the following sates:
- Bauchi State.
- Bayelsa State.
- Enugu State.
- Imo State.
- Kogi State.
- Kwara State.
- Lagos State,
- Oyo State.
- Plateau State.l
- Rivers State.
- Taraba State.
- Zamfara State.
In line with the National Judicial Council Guidelines and Procedural Rules for appointment of Judicial Officers to Superior Courts, I hereby invite Your Lordships, the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association to kindly nominate suitably qualified persons from the aforementioned states for appointment to the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
