Prince P. Godwill Welcomes Conferees To YLF Degema 2023 Symposium

WELCOME ADDRESS BY THE CHAIRMAN, YOUNG LAWYERS FORUM DEGEMA BRANCH

It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome all delegates, the keynote speaker, special guests and our resource persons to the Young Lawyers* Forum Degema Branch annual symposium.
I am specially honoured to have the esteemed presence of my Lord Hon. Justice Adolphus Enebeli Rtd., as keynote Speaker, my Lord Hon. Justice Gbasam David Okogbule Ph. D. and my Lord Hon. Justice D. G. Kio Ph.D. as Chairmen of the two sessions. The theme of the symposium “The Young Lawyer’s Road Map: Navigating new beginnings, transition and growth” is carefully selected to redirect the minds of young lawyers from the usual and mundane preoccupation of the general litigation arising from individual and corporate briefs to navigating new beginnings.
According to Robbie Shell, “Transitions in life can offer opportunities for discovery.”
The yearly enrolment of lawyers in their large numbers and the attendant search for placement in line with the expectation of survival and growth have necessitated the need for diversification and exploring new areas of law practice such as copyright law, data protection law, sports law, entertainment law, media law and the need for imploring the tool of technology to enhance and annex the opportunity inherent in this new area of practice.

From NBA Port Harcourt Bar Centre, I, FELIX ASHIMOLE, Esq., felicitate the members of NBA Degema YLF on the occasion of her 2023 Annual Symposium holding today, 2nd November, 2023.

The Symposium Planning Committee have taken extra steps in crafting the subtopics for discussion in line with the theme. The committee and the leadership of YLF Degema Branch have selected exceptional speakers from the Bar and the Bench, distinguished professionals and seasoned facilitators to examine the issues as well as proffer solutions to the striking issues emanating from the theme and subtopics.
Let me at this juncture thank the leadership of the Branch led by Learned Senior Victor Vincent Amachree Esq for the much appreciated opportunity to lead the young lawyers of the Degema Branch.
I also thank the past leaders of the forum for their unflinching support and guidance.
To the members of the symposium planning committee led by my learned friend, Akuro T. Enoch, Esq., you have done well.
To all delegates to this symposium you are appreciated. It is my expectation that drawing from the wealth of experience garnered from the symposium will leave you better than you came as you immerse yourself in the gains of the symposium.   I hope you have a memorable experience for the advancement of your career.
