I extend my felicitations to the Executive Committee and the entire member of the NBA Lokoja Branch as our 2023 Law Week is set to hold from 22nd to 28th September, at the NBA Lokoja Bar Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State.
The theme of the Law Week, True Democracy and the Role of Legal Practitioners, is most apt considering Nigerians’ current clamour for the entrenchment of the fundamental principles upon which true democracy must stand and thrive.
One of our roles as lawyers is to consistently support democracy by promoting human rights, development, and peace and security. It is pertinent to state that legal practitioners have done more to support democracy around the world than any other profession.
We must not rest on our oars but continue to promote good governance, monitor elections, support the civil society to strengthen democratic institutions in Nigeria.
I commend the Executive Committee of the NBA Lokoja Branch for going to great lengths to ensure that the activities and content of the Law Week meet the highest standard.
Similarly, I salute the entire members of the Branch for striving to make the most of this opportunity and taking the time to connect, collaborate, and communicate with colleagues and share great ideas.
It is my prayer that the line up of activities and the intense discussions on the various contemporary topics will advance the legal profession, the NBA, and make a tremendous impact on the nation. Accept my best wishes for a successful and memorable Law Week.
