Cherubim and Seraphim Prophet To Be Hung For Murdering A Final Year LASUite

Justice Christiana Obadina of an Osun State High Court holden at Ikire, has delivered Judgment in the trial of Philip Segun, a prophet at Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Solution Chapel, Ikoyi-Ile, for the murder of Lagos State University final year student of Sociology Department, Favour Daley-Oladele.
The accused, confessed to the crime and wrote confessional statements, which were tendered in court.Owolabi Adeeko, male, age 23, an accomplice and co-accused, was also sentenced to death.
Furthermore, the court also convicted Owolabi’s mother, Bola, for her involvement in the murder and ritual consumption of human flesh.
Owolabi had lured Favour from Lagos to Ikire under the pretense of visiting his uncle, while he, his mother, and Prophet Segun had planned to use her for a money ritual.
Owolabi in his statement, confessed to using his girlfriend to prepare a ritual meal known as “victory soup” for money ritual, which he and his mother consumed.
Favour was murdered in the church premises, where Owolabi struck her on the head with a pestle and buried in a shallow grave.
Her organs were used for ritual purposes, and her remains were buried in a shallow grave outside the church on December 8, 2019.
The defendants were first arraigned before the court on November 15, 2021, on charges of conspiracy and murder.
